Risk Mitigation in Microwave Procurement
- Counterfeit avoidance: Passing a DC check alone is not an RF acceptance criterion. Select inspections by device category, contract and assessed risk, rather than requiring every technique on every part. Where applicable, DFARS 252.246-7007 (JAN 2023), introductory applicability text and (c)(2) sets risk-based inspection/test criteria; check the clause invoked by the contract.
- Datasheet verification: Separate typical results from guaranteed limits at the required temperature and configuration. Use the YIG oscillator requirement and acceptance record and YIG filter response and tracking budget to capture the conditions.

For oscillator noise, use the phase-noise measurement conditions, not a VNA transmission plot. The SAE public scopes state that invoking these methods also invokes AS6171 General Requirements; obtain the contract-specified editions and full procedures before testing.
